first project in the new house.

so i told you i have some fun updates to share.

today i'm sharing numero uno.

i have been working on re-doing our buffet {to be henceforth pronounced boo-ffay, ala pheobe buffay} in between unpacking boxes and taking care of chirrens.
on saturday i instagrammed this before pic:

you may remember it from our last kitchen....it holds all the boys art supplies and homeschool what-nots.

i picked it up a few years ago for 40 bones at a yard sale.
love the mid-century lines.
she's a peach.

but you know, i can't leave well enough alone and i can't possibly make my life simple, so i decided she needed an update...3 days after we moved into a new house.
we are pretty much bleeding money these days....you know how it is when you move...so i decided to go with free and use some leftover paint i had on hand from my giant chalkboard project i did two houses ago {wow}.
the color is bluefin and it's a walmart color place color.
honestly not the best paint but it's what i had.

first i sanded that sucker.
sanding is such an annoying step but definitely necessary if you're using cheapo paint like i did.

next, three coats of paint...waiting at least four hours in between coats.
i finished yesterday and am just letting her sit and cure for a bit.
can't wait to start styling her up!

it was pretty much impossible to get an accurate photo of the color.
mostly these pics look more blue than it really is.
it is actually more saturated with more green undertones.

the pic above is closer but still not spot on.

i thought about changing the hardware but decided to leave them in their au natural, mad men glory.
they are rad and i love the pops of gold.

welcome.
we have boxes and ladders and junk everywhere....distract yourself with this pretty teal buffet. :)

unpack. unpack. unpack. repeat.

still doing tons of unpacking over here.
obviously.

it is so much work to get your every earthly belonging packed up and then you get to where you're going and the work continues!
little by little....we'll get it done.
i keep telling myself that i will find a place for everything soon!

i am working, working, working and never stopping...but that was my life anyway so what's new? ;)

i have already started on some fun projects that i can't wait to show you...but first....here are a few rando shots of the new house that i took with my phone when we had our final walk through.

that is the dining room, right when you walk in, to the right.
the floors are actually tile that look like wood.
love. them.
obviously i prefer the look of real wood, but with four young kids, three of whom are boys, this is perfect for us.

floors the color of dirt that are not affected by water or spills? yes. please.

these are not great shots, but you get the idea.
ruby, aj and our realtor chatting it up in the living room.
breakfast nook and kitchen behind them.

the kitchen cabs are white beadboard.
i love the kitchen so much.
i've always wanted white cabinets with white counters.
yay.

master bathroom...kinda self explanatory....and about 5 trazillion times bigger than our last bathroom.
the master shower is a-maz-ing.

the upstairs is a ginormo bonus room.
we are using it as a fourth bedroom/play room.
i'm not sure how we're going to arrange it all...it's such a big space....but i think that's a good problem to have. ;)

this house is about the same size as our last one {about 2200 sq. feet} but it is arranged much better for our family.

so those are the only photos worth showing you but i will be giving you room by room updates as we get them whipped into shape.
ruby's room is almost there. :)

what. a. week.

whoa.
you know how crazytown it is to move right?
yeah....well that is where i live right now.
crazy.town.

and somehow, it's only been 2 years since we moved last and i still forgot how much work it is to actually haul your eleventy billion boxes from one house to another.
and presume on the kindess of your friends to work endlessly on your behalf.

honestly we have felt God's favor and blessing so. much. on this move.
from an amazing deal on this foreclosure that is way nicer than it should be, to selling things we don't need & buying things we do on craig's list, to the boys being in kansas for a few days while we packed up and moved, etc, etc.
we are so thankful and excited.

yes, we are living in the land of boxes...but we are so thrilled with this house and i for one can't wait to decorate it!! :)

i snapped a bunch of pics the morning of our move so that our boys could see our old house all packed up.
it looks like so little when it's spread throughout the house but i believe it took 4 truck loads to get it all moved over.
isn't that crazy?!

whew, i'm glad that part is over!
now the unpacking, organizing and figuring out where the heck my toothpaste is begins!
many long, long days right now, but it will all pay off when we make this house a home.  :)

it's a red letter day.

i took a shower and dried & straightened my hair after the kids were awake.
miracle.

i got dressed & put makeup on on a home school day.
miracle.

i packed several boxes while the boys were occupied.
winning.

sawyer entertained himself all morning and didn't ask to watch a show until after 11:00.
biggest miracle ever in the history of ever.

we have a final walk through on our house at noon.
yay. hoo.

i'll bring my camera. :)

tuesday thoughts.

hey y'all.
we're having a sweet tuesday at home over here.

we did a quick target run after dropping the boys off and then back home until it's time to pick them up this afternoon.
i love spending my tuesdays with just my little ones.
it's nice to have focused time for them.
we do lots of hanging out on the floor, playing with toys....just like i did with the big boys when they were little.
i like it.
special moments that fly away so fast.
how many times have i wished i could be back on the floor with my little avery playing legos??
having older ones, definitely helps me slow down and appreciate these days with my littles.

dark chocolate cadbury mini's.
somebody hold me.
my favorite.
i resisted the urge and did not buy them for myself.
but if someone who loves me wants to buy them for me that would be just fine. ;)

saw this antique vanity at my flea market last night.
i love it....thinking i need a vanity in the new house.
what say you? do i need a vanity?
only comment if you're going to say yes. :)
ha ha ha ha ha.

okay, must get back to packing....we close in 10 days!!!
can't wait to show you the new digs!
can't wait to decorate a new place....that is ours!!

hellooooooo

hey guys.
well, yes, i am still stick. . . but definitely on the mend.
i am over the flu but i am still really congested and just basically yucky in the head.
but i am feeling much better...thank you for all your sweet well wishes.  :)

last week was a verrry long week.
it was freezing cold and the boys had a snow day which actually was more of a sleet day.
nothing really fun to play in.
now that the boys are at a university model school, when they miss school, we have to make up the work.
therefore, snow days are not so much fun.
it actually means a lot more work.
but our teachers were gracious and slimmed down the work and we were able to make the most of our extra time.
being sick plus having nasty weather just made the week drag on.
but it did in fact end...as all hard things do....eventually. ;)

somehow arkansas didn't get the memo that it's almost march.
we are having another week of freezing cold weather.
i keep telling myself that i will reeeeally appreciate the nice, sunny weather when it comes. :)

also, panic attack alert: less than 3 weeks until we close on our new house!
holy. cow.
so excited!

so our current house is a whole lot of this:

and this:

trying to get a little done at a time so it doesn't pile up into a nightmare at the end.
we shall see......

last week was pretty much a wash so i'm hoping to make up time this week.
my goal right now is to go through all the hard decision making stuff that people can't really help me with.
you know, papers and pictures and memory stuff.
then at the end people can help me do easy stuff (like packing dishes) that don't really require decision making.
i have no great way to organize memory stuff. i just have them all stuffed into tubs for right now.
maybe someday i'll discover some amazing, easy, thing to do from pinterest but for right now, the tubs are good.

we close on march 15 but we have this house until the end of the month so that gives us some extra time to clean and get the other house all ready for us. :)

pretty exciting . . . and nervewracking. . . and overwhelming.
deep breaths.
;)
