this weeks instapics are all about miss ruby jane.

i'll write all about our experience of meeting our daughter soon.
however, my mind is currently a cloud of percocet so we'll just stick with pictures today.

showered with love

a few weeks ago, our sweet friends blessed us with a couple's shower.
the invitation said, "sugar and sweets and all things PINK!"

can i tell you how excited i was for a pink baby shower? sooooo excited.
and it was wonderful and girly and pink.

they planned so many extra details to make it special for me.
i truly have the most amazing friends.

everyone had to wear pink, even the guys.
if you know my husband, you know this was asking a lot.
he did it for me, because he loves me and because he didn't have a choice. :)

everything was decorated with red and pink.
perfect for a little girl named ruby.

they made me a little book of wishes for the baby.
some were sweet and meaningful and others were funny.
i look forward to reading through them when i'm up at night with ruby.

we had such a fun night.
it was great to hang out with some really good friends and celebrate this gift God is giving us.

and this is what grown men do when they attend a baby shower.

surreal.

that is how today feels.
i spent the morning at the doctor/hospital.
then i got a pedicure. my toes are ready.
i'm currently wearing a hospital bracelet.
scheduled to have baby girl via c-section at 8am.
this will be my fourth c-section so i would so appreciate any and all prayers for a smooth, easy delivery and for health for both of us.
i have that nervous/excited tummy feeling today.
trying to finish up last minute things.
i don't have much.
need to finish packing.
doing a last load of laundry.
pick up a few staples for the house.
aj and i get to go eat dinner alone for the last time for awhile.
i hope i can sleep tonight.

by the way, i searched and searched for a going home dress for baby girl.
for some reason, i had it in my head that i wanted something white.
i couldn't find a white newborn dress any.where.
finally it dawned on me that i should just make her one.
i googled "pillowcase dress" and bought some white fabric & silk ribbon.
four dollars and half an hour later, i had this:

i love the sweet details of the fabric.

i am excited to see her itty bitty self in it.
and i think it's even more special that her mama made it for her. :)

baby girl nursery reveal

welcome, welcome to baby girl's room!!
i'm so excited to finally show you her sweet, girly, & very pink room.

her room is ready to go . . .  all we need is our sweet little girl.

i love antique silver.
i picked up this little dish at the thrift store for 75 cents.
i already had the white metal basket & milk glass.

i found the little accordian peg rack at the thrift store {big surprise} for like a quarter.
i see these all. the. time. at thrift stores and yard sales.
it was ugly brown so i just gave it a few quick coats with the same watermelon paint that i used on the chandy
i thought it would be perfect thing for her plethora of headbands

i never throw away or get rid of pillows when i redecorate.
i always save them to be recovered. no need to spend money on pillow forms.
i have a huge stack now, it's actually getting a little out of control.
i definitely whittled down that stack recovering pillows for the nursery.

pillows are so fun to make. :)

i made the flower using one of emily's flower tutorials

i've so enjoyed digging through my pile of fabric scraps to see what i could create for her room.

her curtains are actually a vintage bed covering that i cut in half.
i found it at an antique store months ago and i knew immediately that it would be perfect for curtains.

i am so happy with her room.
no room in my house is ever totally finished . . . i will add or change as time goes by.
but for right now, it's ready for a sweet velvet-skinned baby girl to come home to. :)

if you'd like to read more about the progression of her nursery, i posted about her wall color, her girly chandelier,  recovering the chair, rehabbing the dresser, her wardrobe, her crib skirt, and the embroidery hoop wall art.

nothin' much.....

today has been a  full day of errands and appointments.
and now it's almost time to start dinner....and by that i mean, put the frozen casserole i bought at walmart in the oven.
i am on a cooking strike until after this baby is here.

and i bought more girly fabric today because i just can't help myself.
and i bought a tutu.
it was on sale.  it would have been wrong to not buy it.

and by the way... do you do swag bucks?
if not, you really should....if you like free money.
it's basically a web browser that you use instead of google.
and you earn points all the time just for searching online as you normally would.
so it's no skin off your back.
swag bucks are the reason that i always have some kind of credit in my amazon account.
you trade your points in for prizes or gift cards and i always trade mine in for amazon cards.
seriously, it takes no effort.
so that's my plug.
and if you sign up right now you can use the code AUGUSTBONUS during the registration process and get 50 free swag bucks.  awesomeblossom.
so click here to get started or click my swagbucks button over there on the sidebar --------->

and now for a little sweetness....3 little boy hands loving on their sister. :)

crafting with courtney, the loo & a giant belly.

last week, my girl courtney, came over for some girl time.
she ate dinner with us and then we got down to business making some crafts.

we started out making cards.
after looking through my big pile of {extremely neglected} scrapbook paper, i had another idea.

i grabbed a couple of frames from my stash & we went outside to give them a quick coat of black spray paint.

when they dried, we cut our chosen scrapbook paper to size, added a word with scrapbook stickers, & popped them into the frame.
it took courtney about 2.5 seconds to pick the paper she wanted.

a quick & easy craft that makes me smile.

i added a strip of ribbon & hung mine in our downstairs bath.

oh, you want to see more of our downstairs bath?
well, sure.
gray walls & slate tile.
love the gray and love that the slate hides a multitude of sins.

and the other side. . .
with my pretty, new anthro towel that i picked up when we were in little rock on friday.
i l-o-v-e this towel.
it's super thick and cushy and i love the vintage look to it.

i'm hoping it will hide a multitude of sins as well because my boys don't actually get their hands clean when they wash them.

while i was taking these photos i caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror.
oh my, i am worried about how big this belly is getting.
seriously.

i don't normally wear lime green....i am working at rhea lana's consignment sale this week.
i tried to pick the photo where my stomach looked the smallest.
there was none.

FIVE MONTHS, y'all!

i am for sure this is the biggest i have ever been at 5 months.
i'm a little worried about what i'm going to look like at the end.
there's another preggo girl working at rhea lana's that looks about the same size as me.
although....when i see these pictures, i think i am actually am bigger.
i asked her when she was due.

three weeks.

uh huh. yep.

i really am so happy to be pregnant and so happy to get the joy of carrying this sweet girl.
but i am nervous that by the end i'm going to look like violet beauregard...except not blue....hopefully.

random tuesday

happy tuesday all.

this is a weird week for us.
the boys are in school two extra half-days this week for sat10 testing.
i actually mopped my kitchen floor yesterday morning. so, that was exciting.
of course i used mrs. meyers' basil because that stuff smells a.maz.ing.
and mrs. meyers actually makes you want to clean.

for some reason this month is crazy-busy.
like, 3 things written on my calendar every day, busy.
it's a little overwhelming but we're making it.
it's mostly good stuff...just really hectic.
i tell you what, i'll be ready for our vaca next month {!!!}
i can't wait to sit around and be waited on. :)

i am addicted to the brick breaker game on the phone that my friend lent me since mine broke.
like, i think it's becoming a problem.
i'm pretty sure i have an addictive personality.

the nester wrote a really good post about educating your children.
i've been pondering it a bunch.

and now for my official {not sure what that means} 5 months shot.
it's a little bitter-sweet that this will be my last time doing this.
even though it's hard work, it's such a privilege and a blessing to get to carry my sweet babies.
i'm thankful to be entrusted with this work.

have a great day y'all!!! Pin It

4 months~ish

so i never posted a picture of my 4 month baby bump.
because i never took one.
okay, i lie.
aj took one but i look hideous and have a creepy, way-too-enthusiastic-smile, so it's not goin' on the world wide web.

i realized that i'm creepin' up on the 5 month mark {next sunday} so i want to post the two {not great} pictures that i do have.
i feel the need to document this pregnancy for many reasons...one of them being the fact that i erased our entire hard drive a month before i had sawyer and lost all of my pregnancy photos....save those that were on my blog.
i always feel an urgency to document our life and our days so that our memories "saved."
i could just buy an external hard drive...but that would take some forethought....which i do not possess.

last weekend a local radio station had this big, giant baby shower for all the pregnant & new mamas in the tri-state area.
they had a bunch of vendors and gave away a bunch of free stuff.
at the end of the day they had a fashion show and i modeled {stop laughing} for my friend ashley's business, rhea lana's children's consignment sale.

okay so here is me at 4 1/2 months preggs.
avery and finley modeled with me.
sadly, i don't have good pictures of them.
aj was standing towards the side and behind people and dealing with sawyer.
stop looking at that guy's creepy face.

sometimes i feel weird about posting too many pictures of myself...like people will think i'm too big for my britches or something.
then i read this post from shauna @ the reed life.
she motivated to get in the pictures more and post them.
so i will try. :) Pin It
