farmland adventures

this weekend we went back to our favoritest fall place, farmland adventures.
we all looooove going out there and the boys were so excited when i told them AJ was taking off early on friday so we could go.

we started with the corn maze...we do the smaller corn maze for our little ones' sake.
ruby wanted me to hold her through the entire maze...i was really wishing i had brought the ergo.
let's just say AJ ended up carrying my purse through the rest of the maze.
why i even brought my purse escapes me.

everyone loves the corn box.
i think we need one.

avery really wanted me to take a picture of him doing this.
oh my.

fin and sawyer did the pony rides.
something we love about farmland adventures is that all the fun activities are included in the price.
the kids can do everything as many times as they want.
that is huge.

after pony rides we walked around the petting zoo & fed the goats.
there are tons of goats.

all of our kids love feeding animals.
they are pretty good at holding their hands nice and flat for the animals to eat the feed out of.

next we did the hay ride.
the hay ride is probably my favorite part.
it is so beautiful and peaceful out there.

they give everyone tortillas to feed the animals.
the chickens and the cows come running for their treats.
there was a cow running along side....like really close.... right beside us.
it was hilarious.

the man stopped out in the middle of the field so that we could feed the cows....that were coming up really close.
this cow was literally right up in my face.
hilarious.

after the hayride it was time to pick our pumpkins.
the boys had very specific ideas of what they wanted.
finley wanted the weirdest looking pumpkin possible.

we spent some more time there just letting the kids play around the hay bales and take extra pony rides.
ruby decided she wanted to take a pony ride.
i really thought she would freak out once i actually put her on the horse, but she did great.
she did cling to me really tight....but i was so proud of her for actually getting on the pony.  :)
she loves animals so i know she was so happy she did it.

this was our third year in a row to go to farmland and it is definitely our place.
we love it.

check out our first trip here. and also notice that our little finny fan's picture is up on farmland's home page.  :)

easter twenty twelve, part 2

i love holiday traditions.
i think they are such a great way to make special memories as a family.
for easter every year we set out the kids' easter baskets full of goodies and little surprises.

four baskets this year. wow.
i put shaving cream in the boys' baskets this year so that they could each have their own bottle when we play with shaving cream.
i think i will let them go outside on a warm day and have a ball with them.
and then hose them off.
good, clean fun. :)
after easter baskets we made simple resurrection rolls from refrigerated croisants & marshmallows.

then the race was on to get us all ready for church on time.
thankfully all of our clothes were set out and ironed {by aj obviously} the night before.

we snapped a few quick photos before jumping in the car for church.

we had to take lots of pictures with our ruby girl since this was her very first easter. :)
and my first time to get to dress up a daughter in her easter clothes.

mama and daughter. sigh.

yes, she's wearing peep toes.
i know.

thank you self timer.
the whole lot of us.

i could not be more pleased with these four children God has blessed us with.
so grateful.

after church we had lunch with my parents and little sister.
my sister and i hid easter eggs for the boys while my parents tried to keep them from watching out the window.

we had a nice, relaxing afternoon which was just so. wonderful.
while sawyer was taking one of his typical entire-afternoon-long nap, i took the others outside to try to snap some more photos.

these boys of mine are crazy about their little sister.
she is one blessed little girl.

the sun was a little bright for ruby.

i refashioned her headband from the one she wore in her newborn photos

and then there is my nine year old.
somehow i have a nine year old.

sweet, handsome boy.
inside and out.

and then he wanted to do a hand stand.
typical avery. :)

i brought fin out to take pictures.
i had to start saying silly words and calling him goober head to get him to smile.

it was such a wonderful day, i didn't want it to end.
i just love being with my family.
we are so happy.
not perfect . . . by any stretch . . . but we love each other and we love journeying this life together.

thankful for them.
thankful for easter and all that it means.

our christmas

i did get four stockings complete. . . about a day before it was time to pack it all away for next year.
it sure will be nice to open that box in december. :)

a week before christmas we had our christmas morning with our little family at home since we'd be in kansas on christmas.

we did the whole bit, stockings, read the christmas story, cinnamon rolls for breakfast, then presents.

i made pioneer woman's cinnamon rolls.
it was my first time to ever make cinnamon rolls.
they were awesome, obviously.

our tradition is to let the boys open their stockings first thing.
then eat breakfast and read the christmas story from the Bible.
then exchange gifts.
this year we did a couple of family gifts and 2 individual gifts for each child.

i am most happy when all six of us are together.
it was a very happy morning.

i put a lot of pressure on myself to get the boys the exact right gift and it is so unnecessary because they are so happy over any little thing.
they are really joyful little boys and i am so thankful for that.

the wood burning stove {which i am in love with} makes this room so cozy and perfect for family time.
i loved hanging out in my pj's with my family . . . and my coffee.

this year was a very toy story christmas for sawyer.

our budding little artist received lots of drawing stuff this christmas.

even though it felt a little weird to have "christmas" before christmas day, it was actually very helpful to have the celebrations {and therefore shopping, baking, & crafting}  spread out a little.

it was a very merry day in this house. :)

okay friends, have a happy wednesday!
today is our last day of christmas break so i'm off to go spend time with my boys!
