christmasfied

our home is looking cozy and christmasy.
this is our first christmas in this house and it was so fun to decorate.
i love pulling out all of our boxes and spreading christmas cheer throughout the house. :)

the kids love to help decorate the tree with us.
we have a tradition of putting on a christmas movie and decorating the tree together.
i usually get a little stressed out at some point but try to hold it together. ;)

i love our family tree.
we put tons of vintage tinsel and all of our ornaments on that one tree.
i love my fancy, girly ornaments right next to a homemade kid one. :)

we decorated the weekend after thanksgiving and i spent the better part of the weekend adding stuff all around the house.
it's not perfect for sure, but it's happy and christmasy and makes our home feel so cozy. :)

avery made this lego nativity to set out. :)
love his creativity.

we have loved doing the jesse tree this year....i found the free printable ornaments and jesse tree study guide for free on ann voskamp's blog.

bottle brush trees are so sweet, right?
plus vintage fake snow and little vintage silver deer...such a sweet little vignette.

i may be slightly obsessssed with my antique ornament tree.
i'm thinking it would be weird to have it up all year long.....

antique ornaments are one of the only things that i collect and i loooovvveee them.
vintage tinsel....vintage ornaments....all stuffed into a milk glass vase.

christmas cards displayed on the piano.
ignore that chandelier hanging in the way....seriously we need to raise that sucker up.
we've only lived here since march.

that's when avery and finley were four and two....and avery kept pinching finley's nipples while i was trying to create a christmas card photo shoot.
ha. it was so frustrating at the time. makes me laugh now.

vintage christmas apron.
red plaid mug i picked up at the thrift for 99 cent.
i'm so trendy with my plaid.

we did a little easy christmas crafting on our bazillion snow days last week.

more vintage of course.

dining room....i love decorating these shelves.

the shelves are just barn wood that AJ attached to the wall with heavy duty brackets.
they are one of my favorite things in our house.

the little tree is just one that i had on hand.
i spray painted it silver this year to give it a midcentury feel.

advent calendar...the kids open a window each morning and read the verse.
simple and sweet.

even the bathroom shelf got a little christmas love in the form of a big ol' strand of vintage tinsel shoved in there.

avery's room and the stairs to the playroom got some lights as well.
not fancy, but super fun and exciting for the kids.

so that's our bits of christmas cheer!

merry christmas, friends! :)

holiday cards by minted

did y'all have a good thanksgiving??
thanksgiving is the best.
yummy food. family. focusing our words and thoughts on thankfulness.
love it.

the holiday season is just so much fun.
and now, it's time to think about christmas cards.
do you send christmas cards?
i've done them every year since....well forever.
i remember sending them out when i was in college.
never is it more fun to check your mailbox, than the month of december.
i love when all of the holiday cards come rolling in.

i've had it in my head to figure out christmas cards for a while now and i recently discovered, minted.
that is some serious eye candy.
there are so many unique designs that i hadn't seen before.
they also have many shape options, post card options, flat or folded cards, paper thickness, etc.
lots. of. options.
okay....gonna let some photos speak for themselves.
here are some of my faveys.....

glitter. need i say more?
i need all the glitter things.

simple and lovely, right?

my favorite christmas song ever, ever....in a beautiful fun, font. love it.

there are so many colors, fonts & shapes to choose from to make your card unique.

i have no idea how i am going to choose ours.
they have a neat feature where you can see your photo in several cards at once, so that should help.

also, bonus...they are having a 20% off holiday photo cards sale through today.
you can even buy now and upload your photo later if you're not ready with your photo yet. :)

yay for the holidays and super yay for holiday decorating!
i can't wait to get started!  :)

ruby's room at the new house

and by new, i mean, we've lived here 7+ months.
:)
i realized i haven't shown y'all around much since we've moved to this house so i thought i'd show you ruby's room.
it is honestly very much like her old room.
except that she actually lives in it now, so it's not quite so pristine.
and she has a closet in this room.
bonus.

welcome. :)

it should be noted that i did not stage these photos at all.
these pics are pretty much how it looks every day.

also, the walls are painted dolphin fin gray (behr) just like her old room.
that was the very first thing we did before we even moved boxes in.
also, we brought her chandelier. :) had to.

this is her reading chair.
we read her books there, daily.
her favorite is "no, no, noah." :)

chalkboard from her shower, hooks with her many accessories, fabric art from the sis-in-law, and baby dresses.

the top one was my mom's baby dress and the bottom is the one i made for ruby.
it was so big on her....hard to believe now.

i found the gold curtain rod at the walmarts on clearance. yes. please.
the curtains are a vintage coverlet, cut in half.
i didn't sew up the sides or anything crazy like that.
the little scrappy garland is from her first bday partay.

her bed....pretty much the same as our last house, except lowered down.
she refuses blankets 98% of the time, but we always go in and cover her up after she's asleep.

that vintage bassinet is one of my favorite things in her room.
all my kids slept in it, as well as my niece, nephew and little sister.
it now holds her many "babies."

okay, yeah, we hardly use that changing pad anymore.
but we do use it sometimes and i just can't bear to get rid of it yet.
i have used it for all four of my kids and i'm sentimental and i am no where near ready for her to have a big girl room.

the gallery above her bed is ever-changing.
i need to add some more current photos.....

ruby in utero.
mama and boy hands loving on her even then. :)

the little angel picture was a gift from my step-mom years ago and i've always loved it.

vintage botanical print.

i love this print from french press mornings.
{i won it through a giveaway on this vintage grove!! yay. hoo.}

and lastly but not leastly...her closet.
it is super nice for her to have an actual closet in this house.
which is chock full of her cutie clothes and shoes.

so that's her little room.
girly and pink and perfect for her. :)

more details of the specific items in her room can be found in the "ruby's nursery" tab at the top of the page. :)
