hellooooooo

hey guys.
well, yes, i am still stick. . . but definitely on the mend.
i am over the flu but i am still really congested and just basically yucky in the head.
but i am feeling much better...thank you for all your sweet well wishes.  :)

last week was a verrry long week.
it was freezing cold and the boys had a snow day which actually was more of a sleet day.
nothing really fun to play in.
now that the boys are at a university model school, when they miss school, we have to make up the work.
therefore, snow days are not so much fun.
it actually means a lot more work.
but our teachers were gracious and slimmed down the work and we were able to make the most of our extra time.
being sick plus having nasty weather just made the week drag on.
but it did in fact end...as all hard things do....eventually. ;)

somehow arkansas didn't get the memo that it's almost march.
we are having another week of freezing cold weather.
i keep telling myself that i will reeeeally appreciate the nice, sunny weather when it comes. :)

also, panic attack alert: less than 3 weeks until we close on our new house!
holy. cow.
so excited!

so our current house is a whole lot of this:

and this:

trying to get a little done at a time so it doesn't pile up into a nightmare at the end.
we shall see......

last week was pretty much a wash so i'm hoping to make up time this week.
my goal right now is to go through all the hard decision making stuff that people can't really help me with.
you know, papers and pictures and memory stuff.
then at the end people can help me do easy stuff (like packing dishes) that don't really require decision making.
i have no great way to organize memory stuff. i just have them all stuffed into tubs for right now.
maybe someday i'll discover some amazing, easy, thing to do from pinterest but for right now, the tubs are good.

we close on march 15 but we have this house until the end of the month so that gives us some extra time to clean and get the other house all ready for us. :)

pretty exciting . . . and nervewracking. . . and overwhelming.
deep breaths.
;)

sick day.

you know how in the back of your head you think it might be nice to be sick so you can lay in bed all day and watch movies and drink tea and avoid all your responsibilities?

and then you remember you're a mom and you have to carry on through the sickness because that's what mom's do?

yeah. well that was me yesterday.
then i had a really rough night and AJ felt sorry for me and offered to take the day off work.
cue the hallelujah chorus.

i was at the walk-in clinic at 6:55 this morning so i could be first in line.
and first in line i was.
then was informed that the doctors had a once a month meeting and wouldn't be in until 8:30.
wah. wah.
welp, no matter, i signed my name on that list and settled into the cold waiting room.

good news: i'm totally caught up on the news.
now i remember why i don't watch the news.
also i was able to make some headway in my chronological Bible reading plan.
i'd gotten behind what with all the sickness abounding.
Jesus afforded me some extra reading time. ;)

also, good news, i didn't punch the nurse when she did the nose swab flu test and the stick-a-q-tip-half-way-down-your-throat strep test.
crisis averted.
it should be noted, i feel like i'm mostly a really good patient with needles and such, but i do not prefer, the sticking of q-tips where they don't belong.

anyhoo, positive for flu, so off i went to drive around town to 3 pharmacies to get my script for tamaflu filled.
and then back home to bed.

sooooo thankful that AJ works for a very family company that said, yes! go home and take care of your wife!

also super thankful for sweet friends who go above and beyond to bless us and love on us.
honestly, it makes me realize how far i have to go as a friend and servant of others.
i hope i'm learning.

oh yeah also, just a reminder, staying in bed all day is really not that fun for a busy body like me.
i'm getting a little stir crazay.
but i'm not gonna complain.
AJ is taking care of the kids, brining me food and drink, and generally doting on me.
thank.ful. X1000

okay, guess i better get back to downton.
the dowager countess awaits . . .

p.s. will someone remind me to get a flu shot next year? kthanks. Pin It

have i said that i'm ready for spring?

well, shoot.
i thought we had made it through flu season unscathed.

yes, ruby has been sick pretty much all winter, but the rest of us have sailed through and missed most of the crud.
the big boys came down with it on friday and spent most of the weekend laying around and recovering.
can i just say, praise Jesus for tamiflu.

ruby had a wonderful few days of being well and it was so fun to see her sweet personality.

she went to bed saturday night as happy as a clam and woke up sunday morning congested and pitiful.
it hit so fast.
makes this mama heart so sad.
i'm so ready for my girl to be well.
we went back to the doctor this morning {i feel like i live there lately} and of course she has a double ear infection again.
she has an appointment with an ear, nose, & throat doctor on friday so i'm hoping we get a good solution.

we all stayed home from church on sunday and made the most of our day with baked oatmeal, hot tea & some family game playing.

oh and m&ms.
chocolate is necessary.

by last night i developed a really painful cough that feels like it's in my lungs.
i haven't determined if i caught whatever virus is going through this house or if it's from running in the early hours of the day in the freezing cold.
probably not my smartest idea to date.

so that's my sad tale.
praying that we're all on the mend and that this is the end of it.

so long winter, i'm done with you. i never really liked you to begin with.

instafriday

oh mercy, y'all it's been a week.
busy, busy, busy.

and i've got pictures to show for it.
so let's get right to it.

i love to purge and throw things away all the time but now that we know we're moving soon, i have been taking any spare moment to go through cabinets and throw stuff out or list it on craig's list.

while ruby was taking a bath last week, i started going through the medicine cabinet.
apparently i am a prescription medicine hoarder.

i guess i'm waiting for a rainy day? or the apocalypse?
these are all expired by at least 5 years.
yep.
if you need some percocet, i've got you covered.
okay, actually, i don't. i threw them out.

last weekend we had a friends' sleepover. so. fun.
our friends, zach & erin, have four kids as well and they all love each other and play so well together.
we always feel like we don't have enough time together so we decided to have a sleepover.
fun for kids and grownups alike. :)

i love to decorate with meaningful items.
i try not to keep a piece unless i really love it and/or it has special meaning.
i'm not a big fan of going to a big store and grabbing a bunch of random decorates to fill a space.

these are all things my boys have collected.
i hope they always come home with full pockets.
this collection is geode pieces, rocks from family camping and clam shells.
beautiful and meaningful. i love it.

her legs. in heart tights.
sigh. i am in love with her.

my mom shops for my flea market booth as well.
she has great taste and an eye for antiques.
i love these vintage glass dishes that she brought me.
60 years and they still have the tags! so cool.

my sawyer loves to help me cook.
if he sees me cooking at the counter, he runs and grabs a stool and climbs up.  :)
i hope i always remember my days of cooking with my sweet boy.

he helped me make valentines cupcakes.
and i will say, they were YUM.
meg's frosting is always a hit.

boy valentines, teacher valentines {made using this free printable}, and a happy valentines treat morning. :)

valentine girl.
not the best pic, but sister rarely stands still.
wearing her pillow case dress from last year.
i love that she can wear those for several years.

yesterday was Lords & Ladies day for the fourth grade at the boys' school.
it was an all day event and so much fun.

i just had my phone camera so i'm waiting on all the 'real' photos from the other mamas...but here are some glimpses of our day . . .

i'll tell you all about it when i get more photos....but it was really so cool.
a ton of work for the mamas, but so worth it.
i am so thankful for this school and so thankful they get to go there.

they had to make valentines boxes with a medieval theme.
avery planned to make a castle with a dragon coming out with it's mouth open where you put the valentines in.
we worked for days on it.
we were both pretty happy with how it turned out.

okay friends...those are my tidbits from this week....what are y'all up to?

valentines week check in.

january and february are supposed to be those slow, cozy up inside, take it easy months of the year.
not really happening this year.
i do have four kids after all.
and i'm crazy enough to be homeschooling them part time and also sending them to a school that is awesome and has big projects and events like Lords and Ladies day.

oh and also, we signed a contract on a house last week.
and also rhea lana's consignment sale is coming up. . . .which means i'm preparing loads of clothes to sell right now plus i will be working at the sale a bunch.

so things are . . . busy around here.
this week especially.

four kids = four kids valentines and four kids valentines parties and four kids special treats for said valentines parties.
my goal is to make this week really fun and not stress my kids out in the process!

avery's fourth grade is having Lords and Ladies day on Valentines.
it's an all day event and it's going to be awesome...but the prep is a little intense.

they each have a medieval character that they will be dressed up all day.
we will have games and events and food all around the medieval theme.

i think it will be really fun day for the kids.
but i will be ready to be done with big projects for a while . . . not that we will be done. . . i will just be ready for it. ;)

okay.....back to my list...

hope you are all having a great week! Pin It

instafriday

hey y'all.
it's friday afternoon and i'm happy about it.
today has been a long day and i'm so looking forward to a weekend....you know a mama's work is never done.
it's not like i am "off" on the weekends....but tag teaming it with my AJ sure is nice.
plus it feels nice to have all six of us together.

so. . . our week in instagrams . . .

AJ's mom brought sissy some valentines necklaces.
oh my.
yes, she is adorable walking around with those things around her neck.
gives me glimpses of our future.

typical sawyer outfit.
yes, those are shin guards with rain boots.
love that crazy kid.

ruby discovered the boys' ball track.
she is a fan.
it's so cute to watch her play with it . . . not as cute to dig them out of her mouth.
that thing lives on a high shelf.

sweet time with my saw buddy on the trampoline.
i love playing with him.

it's rhea lana time!
i have a huge stack of clothes for this sale and i am really happy about it. :)

sissy is feeling better!!
so, so thankful to see that sweet smiling face.
i've missed that laughing girl!

how adorable is that?
a sweet, thoughtful friend gave me that great "S" mug filled with chocolate.
i love a fun coffee mug.
it will def be in top morning coffee rotation.
and isn't that printable great? i always love a good circus font.

okay those are my little glimpses of this week...what have y'all been up to?

thrift store thursday

i realized this morning that i am weird.
i am giddy with excitement on thursday mornings when i get to go to the thrift store and shop by myself.
that's weird, right?
but i love it.

we have the best thrift store.
seriously.
they have a cool pricing system where everything gets marked down every few days.
so nothing stays stagnant and you can get amazing deals.
i can hardly go in a good will or salvation army anymore because their prices are so ridiculous.
i like a garage sale type price.
i.e. i want to pay a quarter. :)

on thursday mornings, the items that were half off, go down to 50 cents.
and i'm not the only lunatic, there's always a line of people waiting for the doors to open at 9.
i see many of the same faces every week.

some days i score a ton, others, not so much.
i didn't walk away with a lot this morning but i did get a super cool vintage projector for  . . . wait for it . . . 50 cents.
boom.

a high like that is why i keep coming back.
love it...and here's a strange fact for you, other than thrifting, i don't really enjoy shopping at all.
okay mostly i just don't like clothes shopping. such a pain.

speaking of clothes, i did find this fun jacket last weekend at the thrift store.

{selfies are so awkward}

i went back and forth because it wasn't on sale yet but i finally decided that it would be fun for our date we had last weekend.
so i went ahead and forked over the six bucks for it.
then to the thrill of my soul, i googled it and found out that it's from anthropologie.
six dollars doesn't seem so bad after all. ;)

also, earlier this week, i picked up these cutie little bowls.

they're from starbucks...didn't know starbucks made bowls.....
but they're a perfect little cereal or ice cream size.
cute. :)

okay friends...those are my thrifted finds for the week....have y'all found anything good??

instafriday

i'm finally sitting down to share my instagram pictures for the week.

this week has flown by....which is pretty nice.
we've had a good week and i'm looking forward to this weekend because we have AJ's parents here and we also get a date saturday night. :)

last weekend we had nice enough weather to go on a family bike ride.
we haven't used the "bike ride" in so long.
ruby and sawyer loved it.
it's also nice that avery and finley are fast enough to ride along with us.

our bike ride brought back so many memories of the summer that we took family bike rides every sunday before church.
that was back when it was little avery and finley riding in the seat.
they were 4 and 2.
time. flies.

anything better than little girl legs in stripey tights??
nope.

how we do.
four kids. home school.
loving our routine.
loving having everyone home 3 days a week.
we have a happy, happy life.
i am so abundantly thankful.

it is so fun to watch the changes in ruby as she gets older.
she's getting more contented.
i am loving how she will sit and play with her little toys by herself now.
she will tottle over to her basket or her castle and plop down and babble and play.
so sweet.

oh. oh.
baby girl is her mama's daughter.
she loves to be outside and loves to get dirty.

okay so this may seem like the ruby show today, but she is the baby.
i promised we fawned over all the boys this much too. :)
anyhow...she's started reaching for the piano keys so i set her up on the chair and she was loving. it.
cutie cutie. that girl.

so that's our week....what are y'all up to?

do you instagram? i'm itsgoodtobequeen if you want to follow me. :)

link up your weekly photos with me here. . .
