Look what's on our front porch right now . . .

So, Avery just came in and said, "Hey mommy, there's a turtle outside."  I say okay and come with him, expecting to see a little box turtle.  This is what I almost walk right on top of:

How this turtle climbed that step is beyond me.  Finley was scared to death of it, mostly due to the loud scream I let out when I first saw it.  I was just a little surprised.  Anyhow, AJ tried to pick it up to move it and it about bit his hand off.  So we're just leaving well enough alone.

Note of Explanation

I want to apologize for being such a terrible blogger lately.  It's basically because I have felt terrible for the past 2 months.  I'm pretty sure this pregnancy has hit me harder than my previous two.  I'm so thankful to be pregnant....however I am ready to be done with the sick part.  I am 12 weeks now so I am hoping I will be over this soon.  I have been pretty useless. Everything makes me nauseous.  Even the computer made me feel nauseous for a while.  AJ has had to eat either frozen food or fast food for about 2 months, save that lovely weekend when AJ's mom was here and cooked for us all weekend. That was nice. AJ has been wonderful as usual.  He works all day then comes home and takes care of the boys, feeds them, & entertains them.  Some days have been worse than others.  It is definitely getting better...I can see a light at the end of the tunnel.

For those of you wondering...my due date is Dec. 1st.  I will have a scheduled c-section either Nov. 21st or Nov. 24th, most likely.  Having 2 previous c-sections, I have no choice in that matter.  I am really not looking forward to having major surgery again, but it will soooo be worth it to have another sweet little babe.

Also, yes, there were 5 pregnancy tests in that picture.  :) After months of negative tests, I had trouble believing it was real.   I would have taken more, but AJ made me stop.

So here's hoping, I'll be back to myself soon........

A couple of Smarty Pants

The weekend before last was Chris and Jill's graduation from JBU.  It was bitter sweet.  It's hard to believe Jill's already done at JBU.  It's been so nice to have her close.  We are really going to miss her.  It makes me sad just thinking about it.  I really don't like change.  Now that summer is approaching it reminds me of how great it was to have her live with us last summer. She and Chris are going to live in Little Rock for Chris to attend UAMS, so they won't be too far.  But it obviously won't be the same as them dropping in on a Saturday afternoon.

So, I love this picture.  AJ's dad takes great pictures.  This is as they are walking in to the ceremony.
Here is how Finley viewed the ceremony . . .
Doug (AJ & Jill's dad) and Jill...
Here we are with Jill...fyi:  it was so stinkin' cold that day.  I love that I'm a head shorter than the both of them. super.
Pam (AJ & Jill's mom) and Jill.....
Chris and Jill...so sweet... look how many cords/ropes/sashes he has around his neck.  It's kind of annoying how smart they are.
The boys LOVED their hats.
Congrats guys!  See ya next month at your weddin. ;)

I love some good Art . . .

How cool is this painting??  I love it.

My friend Karen's older sister, Ellen is an artist.  She does really fun, funky art.  Anyhow, she has any etsy shop and and I saw this listed and thought it was too cute.  I know a lot of people adopting from Ethiopia and I thought if someone has a sweetie girl baby from Africa...this would be so cute in a nursery.  She also has one for Chinese adoption.
Maybe with a little persuading she would do a boy one. :)

Anyhow, I just thought good art should be passed along.

Half-Marathon in OKC

Well, good news: I'm alive.  I'm sorry for being such a terrible blogger lately.  Life has been pretty chaotic for us lately.  I will try to get back on track!

A couple of weekends ago we went to Oklahoma City for the Memorial Marathon.  AJ was running the half-marathon again this year with his dad.  Also running were Jill (AJ's sister), her fiance, Chris, his friend from JBU, Austin, and friends from Kansas, Joanna & Michelle.  We had quite a crew!  AJ's mom, the boys and I, Michelle's husband & daughters, and Joanna's sister, Christy were the cheerleaders. :)

It was a really fun, fast trip.  Avery & Finley had a blast playing with Ryan & Michelle's sweet daughters.

Here are the runners lined up Sunday morning (5:30am) before the race.  Do you love their fluorescent shirts??!  I do!
Joanna, Michelle, Jill, Doug, A.J., Chris, Austin
Showing off the PrairieLand Partner's logo.  AJ's dad bought all the runner's these shirts sporting his company's logo.
Here they are at the start.  I think there were over 16,000 runners.  It was craziness!  Total mayhem and we about lost half our crew before the race ever started!
Here they are at the 5 mile mark.  See, aren't the fluorescent shirts easy to spot in a crowd?!  Very helpful.
Here are the boys and I waiting at the finish.  It was a bit chilly.  By the way, last year I was wearing a tank top & shorts.  This has been a stinkin' COLD spring.  Please, come Summer!!!  Avery is wearing Aunt Jill's coat. ;)

Look closely & you can see AJ running down the home stretch.  We almost missed him b/c he was running so fast.  He literally sprinted past us.
Here is Michelle. She was about 20 yards behind AJ.  They were running together but when he got close to the finish, he ran ahead.  He felt bad about that.  But, he said there was a little girl beside him that was passing him and he couldn't let her beat him! ;)
Here are Doug & Joanna on the home stretch.
Austin, sprinting by....he didn't even notice us standing there yelling his name.
Jill & Chris finishing up.  They didn't even hold hands when they crossed the finish line.  How lame.  They're so unromantic.
My stud runner and I after the race... Now I'm wearing Jill's jacket.   I'm so proud of him.  He ran the half (13.1miles) in under 2 hours and he felt great at the end.

AJ really loves running and hopes to get Avery running with him soon.  His friend, Jon Piper was supposed to run with him.  He and Jon trained together this entire Spring.  A couple of weeks before the race, Jon got bronchitis.  So, that was a bummer.  They are hoping to run a smaller race together this summer.
