i'm a tv star, basically.

i've been wanting to tell y'all about something really fun that i got to do a few weeks ago.

okay you know, the duggars, right?
the big ol' family on 19 kids and counting on TLC?

well they live right down the road from us.
michelle is friends with my friend, kathy, who i work with at rhea lana's {the children's consignment event that i work at a few times a year}.
michelle and her girls have shopped at rhea lana's many times and they have also volunteered at our events.
anyhoooo.....

we got to help them out with a special project a few weeks ago and were filmed for an upcoming show.
so yeah, super fun and nerve wracking at the same time!

a few of us girls from the rhea lana's leadership team worked with the duggars on a big event to raise money for arkansas children's hospital.

this pic is after a long, hot day of working outside so we are sweaty and dusty, but we had to document it.  :)

aj brought the kids up for a little bit to visit me and experience the extravaganza of the event. :)

i can't share any details since the show hasn't aired, but i wanted to tell you so that you could watch on October 22 for our episode which is also the season finale for 19 kids and counting.

i hope i don't look like a total goober but i'm pretty sure i will.

also, i have to say that the duggars are the sweetest people you'll ever meet.
seriously, so genuine.
i loved every last one of them.
it was such a pleasure working with them and getting to know them. :)

hello, monday.

hello, fall.

we are having a lovely, windows-open, candle burning kind of fall morning.
yesterday was the first day of fall and it actually feels like it.
high's in the upper 70's is pretty perfect in my book. :)

i do love how cozy a house feels in the fall.
i pulled down my few fall decorations yesterday afternoon.
i still need to get a mum and some pumpkins for the front porch.
does anyone know how i can not kill a mum?
seriously, i have a black thumb.
i need your tips.

these are phone pics so they're not profesh, but you get the idea.
it's fall up in here. :)

ruby actually sat still for a few minutes and cuddled with aj while he was watching football.
his dream come true. ;)

one of our favorite traditions is homemade pizza on sunday nights.
i use aj's mom's recipe...it's simple and yummy. {p.s. i like the packets of pizza crust yeast}

a pretty nice first day of fall, i say. :)
i'm ready now...ready for pumpkins and hay rides and yummy food.

want to get in the fall spirit with me?
lindsay at pen & paint has a cutie patootie free fall printable.
thanks lindsay! :)

happy fall, y'all!

us {in photographs}

my sweet, sweet friend, nikki, sent me a message a while back and offered to take pictures of our family.
she is just starting her photography business and she specializes in story telling photography.
of course i was thrilled to say yes!!!

oh. my. goodness.
what a priceless gift she gave us.
she captured, us.
how we are....in our home.

she gave us so many amazing photos, i had a hard time narrowing them down share with you.
so i'm sharing a lot. :)

i know.
i could not love them more.
we were pretty much beside ourselves when we saw them.
there are not enough words to thank nikki for capturing this moment in time for us.

if you're local and interested {i'm sure you are :)}...check out nikki toth photography. :)

from her website:

"My passion is photographing everyday moments and making them magical.  I want to capture your family's story and help you remember those details that are so easily forgotten.

Storytelling.  That is what I do.

Thank you for trusting your story to me."

how great is that? love it.
love her.
thank you a million times, nikki.

backyard birthday breakfast party

say that five times fast. :)

oh mercy.
little sis is growing right up.
somehow, my little baby girl is two years old.

we celebrated with a really low-key backyard breakfast party.
i used some of the decorations from her first birthday party so it was super simple to put together a sweet little party for our girly girl.

we had chocolate chip pancakes, bacon, pigs in a blanket, donuts, pink fruit snacks, juice, milk, coffee....and about half way through the party i realized that i had forgotten to put out the fruit.
typical.
i had planned to serve strawberries, cantaloupe, peaches, & blueberries but i totally forgot to put them out!!
we put the strawberries out about half way through.
oh well, i guess it's fitting since ruby won't eat any of those things anyway.
she's a carb and protein girl through and through.

AJ bought her flowers for her birthday so those went on the table as well. :)

of course we had to have cutsie paper straws and chocoloate milk straws. :)

fruit loop bracelet making station to go with the breakfast theme. :)

trix krispie treats for favors.

we put her tea set out in the yard for another activity option.
she loved it. :)

kids ate on quilts on the lawn.

hazy picture but had to document the three of us. :)

strawberry cupcakes with homemade frosting....i learned all my cupcake skillz from my friend, jenny.
i will just humbly say, they were super yummy. ;)

she was not sure about those flames coming towards her face.

nothing a little frosting couldn't fix.

we had such a sweet morning celebrating our ruby jane.
she was adorable opening presents and kept saying, "birtday! birtday"and "yay! yay! yay!" and waving her arms.
such joy. :)

happy birthday, my ruby jane.
looking forward to celebrating you always. :)
