Life through their eyes

I love weekends.  I absolutely love spending the entire weekend with my 3 boys.  On Friday morning Avery asked me what day it was.  I said, "Friday."  He screamed, "Daddy doesn't have to go to work tomorrow!!!"  They love weekends too.  I am definitely happiest when I am with them.  So Saturday morning we went to this donut shop our friends, Nick & Emily have been telling us about.  If you live around here, it's called Old Tyme Doughnuts.  SO. YUMMY.  I have been craving donuts like crazy...more specifically chocolate glazed donuts.  I was the same way when I was pregnant with the boys.  It's a family-run donut shop and the owner did magic tricks for the boys...couldn't get any better than that.
My Mom got us tickets to see Go Diego Go Live! on Saturday evening (thanks mom!!).   The boys were so excited and had a BLAST.  As you can see from the picture, they got jaguar masks which were a big hit.  My favorite thing about life right now is experiencing it through their eyes.  I LOVE watching them enjoy something for the first time.  Life would seriously be dull without kids.
A little snapshot of Finn's face.  During intermission he kept saying, "we have to go back, I want to see Diego."  So much joy.

Last night we went to a fireworks display that our friends, Zach & Erin's church was putting on.  It was one of the best one's I've been to.  It was really long and had patriotic music playing really loud the whole time.  The boys LOVED it.  They also got glow necklaces and the giant rainbow popsicles.  You really can't top that.  Avery was screaming, "This is so fun! It's magic!"  Again, the favorite part for AJ & I was watching the boys faces.  I wonder if God feels like that when he blesses us with something...does He just want to see our face?

My baby is a big boy.

Finley wanted me to take a picture with him and his made bed as well.  He is learning to make the bed, although he does need a lot of help to make it look like this. :)  We moved Finley in with Avery about 3 weeks ago and he is doing great in the big bed.  Although they do tend to talk and laugh for a while before falling asleep.  I think they are making great memories.  I pray all the time that they will always be best friends.  They have been given such a gift in each other.  With Finley moving into the big bed also came the giving up of the "binky."  He only had it at night for sleeping.  He's done so well.  I took an idea that Traci gave me a couple of years ago at a JBU homecoming.  I was worried about taking the binky away from Finley and she said she did it when her kids moved to a big kid bed and it worked out fine.  So, it has worked for us.  After the first entire week of sleeping without it, he got to pick out a new toy from Target.  That was really fun & exciting for him.  He's never asked for it since that first night.  The only downside is that it has definitely made it harder for him to fall asleep.  It takes him a few hours to fall asleep when he used to pass out as soon as he laid down and had the binky in his mouth.  However, he passes out for nap.....I guess b/c he's so tired from the night before!

Good job baby boy!  I love you! Pin It

9 stuffed friends, all in a row

I've been working with the boys this summer on having "jobs."  For example, Avery wipes the table after meals.  I am also working to try to have them make their beds every morning.  Finley obviously needs a lot of help.  Avery made his bed all by himself yesterday morning and was SO proud.   He's been making it for a while but it was really lumpy and not straight.  Yesterday when he made it, it looked so nice!  I was so impressed with how he made his sheet and cover so nice and neat and placed his pillows just so.  It's not an easy task on the top bunk!
Don't you love his line up of animals?? I sure do. So sweet.

The last few months . . . in review

So the first trimester (14 1/2 weeks really) of this pregnancy was rough.  I had horrible allergies and wasn't sleeping when I found out I was pregnant.  Then, I got a stomach bug the next week.  Then I felt good for about 2 days before the all day sickness began.  Of course, I have been so thrilled to be pregnant, but I was definitely ready for the first trimester woes to be O-V-E-R.  Well, the day of Jill & Chris's rehearsal dinner, I finally felt good the whole day.  I almost forgot what it was like to enjoy food or feel hungry.  I have never appreciated it more than I do now!!  I am finally feeling myself again and it is so very nice.

Now that I'm feeling better, I thought I'd give a little update of some things that have gone on the last few months.

This Spring Avery played soccer again on the city team.  He really enjoyed it this year and loved "scoring goals."  Even if it was in the other team's goal. :)  It was so fun to see him really get into running after the ball and trying to kick it.  As opposed to last year when he spent most of the practice picking dandelions for the coach and climbing up the goal.
Here he is in the black hat:
This is part of his team and his coach at the last game.  Avery is so proud of his medal!
In May Avery had his Kids Day Out/Preschool Graduation.  It was a really sweet ceremony.  They had a slide show of all the things the kids did throughout the year.  My parents and little sister Hannah came.
This is a picture of Avery and Titus.  They are also in church together and are going to the same school next year.
Also in May was our friend, Tenney's 3rd birthday party.  He had a jungle theme party and it was SO CUTE! :)
Here is Avery, Tenney, Micah, & Finley with their jungle masks on:
Tenney's dad, Nick, made and hung jungle vines all around the ceiling.
Fun jungle food:
Emily had really fun favors for the kids.  They got to decorate their own cups to take home.  They also got a cute jungle name card holder.
Here are Avery and Finley on the last day of Kids Day Out.  Wow, that year flew by quickly!
And finally, here is my sweet AJ with the boys on Father's Day.   Finley insisted on wearing the sunglasses.
So there you go.  I hope hope hope that I do better with updating this summer!

The Green Hat Ranger

Avery was in his room this morning during "play time."   He came out in this outfit and told me that he was a new power ranger . . . the "green hat ranger."   He then went into the bathroom and made power ranger faces at himself for a while.  I think these pictures capture my Avery perfectly.  I LOVE HIM!! :)

Happy Father's Day

So I made AJ a slideshow for Father's Day.  I really really really wanted to post it on my blog...but I can't get it uploaded.  So I decided to post a few pictures of my sweet husband with his boys.  AJ is an amazing Father.  He is such a great example of a man for my children to look up to.  He is absolutely crazy about those boys and so looking forward to having a new baby soon!
Happy Father's Day, baby.

Girl's Weekend 2008

Last weekend we had our annual "Girl's weekend."   If you remember this post
from last year, I told about what we do each year at Girl's Weekend.   There are 7 of us that have tried to meet one weekend during the summer each year to reconnect.  This year was great, but different as we were missing two of our girls.  Kelly
is serving as a missionary in Ukraine so she obviously wasn't able to come this year.  But we were able to talk to her over the computer late Saturday night.  It was great, we got to see her beautiful kiddos and she took us on a "tour" through their apartment.  Jackie
wasn't able to come at the last minute b/c her son got the stomach flu in the middle of the night before they were supposed to leave.  Kelly & Jackie were definitely missed . . . it wasn't the same without them.
We did have a great time of relaxing, eating food, catching up on each other's lives, & relaxing.  It is always a refreshing time.  Our Saturday night tradition is to get dressed up and go out to eat somewhere fun.  This year was no different.  We went out for Sushi and it was YUM.

Thanks girls!  I love you all!
