the happy day project

i am so excited about the happy day project

julie {joy's hope} and jeannett {life rearranged} have come up with a fun way to use your blog for good.
i so want this bloggy space of mine to be more than just recording memories and sharing my cheapy crafts and decorating.
if there's a way that God can use it for good, then i'm in.

for the happy day project, there's a fun task for each day of the week and a charity they are going to feature and a free printable each day.
who loves a free printable??
this girl.
check all the details here.

monday's project was to bring a treat to a neighbor.
the big boys and i decided to bring cookies to our ederly neighbors that we have never met.
i am ashamed that we've lived here almost a year and i haven't gone to meet them.

i usually shy away from writing much about how we serve.
i so don't want pride getting in here and messing it up.
but the happy day project got me out of my house and across the street and i'm so glad it did.
i'm hoping i can encourage you to do something as well.

so we met our 95 year old neighbors and they were so sweet.
they ushered us right in and pretty much talked non-stop the entire time we were there. :)
margie gave the boys some of their sugar free cookies.
the boys were so sweet and just sat and listened quietly.
i am so, so glad we did that.
i promised her that we would come back again.
i told the boys we should go over every week and visit them.

i wish that we had got over there sooner.
sometimes i need a push to get out of my comfort zone.
maybe you do too.
so why don't you join in the happy day movement and bless someone this week?

it sure did my heart good and i'm so thankful that julie and jeannett had this idea.
they are using their blogs for good.

if you join in, let me know! i'd love to know what you did. :)

The cutest 11 month old you've ever seen.

How is it that my baby is 11 months old???
This year is FLYING.

Wow, what a sweetie we have in our Sawyer.
He has changed so much this past month.
Teeth are popping out like crazy, he got 3 more this month and some more are well on their way.

He finally gave up the army crawl for I'm-gonna-get-that-itty-bitty-toy-before-you-can crawl.
He's crawling all over the house and it's amazing how much ground he can cover in just a few seconds!
He's started waving and  it's so adorable.  He waves for bye-bye, for hi to anyone who comes near him, and for "all-done" when he's eating.

He's very busy.  He's pulling up constantly...and therefore getting many bumps along the way.
He l-o-v-e-s to go into the big boys room to dig through their toys.  They are much more exciting than his lame-o baby toys.
He's super happy, smiley & flexible.
Here he is in one of his favorite spots. :)

He is crazy about animals.  You already know about his love-affair with our cat.
He gets so excited when I read him a book with animal pictures.  He starts smiling really big and babbling and trying to "pet" the pictures.
If we see dogs when we're out and about, it's all he can do to get over to them and grab their fur.

What great joy it is to watch this sweet boy learn and grow!

Today.

It's been a great day.

We started off with a little bit of homeschooling.  We didn't get much done b/c I slept until Finley climbed in my bed and it was 7:30 already.  Avery didn't wake up until 7:50 and Sawyer, 8:30...a rare morning, indeed.

We slowly got around on this rainy, cold, Fall morning.

I was half-dressed with wet-hair when I realized we needed to leave in 5 minutes for Avery's basketball practice and the boys were still in their jammies.  My hair went in a bun, makeup put on at the stop lights and we were only 5 minutes late.

Finley brought a tub full of toys to play with during Avery's practice and Sawyer was extra-content.  It was just one of those mornings when we all had happy hearts.

After practice we met our AJ for lunch which made my day for sure.  We ate at Zaxby's which is just a little slice of Heaven if you ask me.  Their sweet tea is perfect.

After lunch AJ had a little time before he had to get back to work so we walked around the dollar store.  I let the boys each pick out one thing to buy.  I never do that.  They do not need one more toy and definitely not a cheapie from the dollar store, but I just wanted to say yes to them this time.  They were beyond excited.  They both picked guns. oh thrill.  Avery's was an army kit and Finley's was a police kit.  They held their prizes all the way home excitedly talking all about what they were going to play with them.  Finley said "thank you" and "i'm so esited(excited)" all the way home.  Avery told me "thank you" a bunch too.  It's good to say "Yes" sometimes.....even to silly things like that.

The sad news is that Finley's worked and Avery's didn't.  But, I guess that's a good lesson about buying things from the dollar store.  But he was still a happy boy.

Okay, this picture with the guns a little creeps me out.
But they are boys and they are designed to be protectors.  So I let them be boys.

God has really been doing a work in AJ and I.
I am a different girl these days.
I am learning to be  quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.  (James 1:19)
I am finding victory.
AJ and I are noticing a difference in the boys.
God is gracious to keep doing this good work in us.

Tonight AJ & the boys did this.

They were ecstatic when AJ told them what they were gonna do.
We've never set it up inside before.  Little efforts are so worth the joy on their faces.

They got to eat dinner in there with a movie.  so fun.

Now they are going to bed in their fleece jammies.

And my love and I are in for some coffee, pumpkin bread, and snuggling close.

It's been a good day.

p.s. Sawyer stayed in his jammies all day and then went to bed in the same ones.  Just thought you should know.

Are you going to Chic-fil-A today???

Today, starting at 10:30 am, everyone wearing a sports team logo gets a free chicken sandwich. Wooty, hoo hoo! We love chic-fil-A and we love a free samich!

Okay, so I kinda hate crowds so I'm a little nervous. But I won't be deterred from a free lunch.

Also, it's not too late to be one of the first 250,000 who register as fans at The Chick-fil-A Chicken Wave website to receive a coupon by mail for a free chicken sandwich.

We are big Chic-fil-A fans. Who doesn't love eating lunch with a little Jesus music playing in the background?? Plus the sweet tea is super good.

okay, we'll see you there! :)

a day at home

We stayed home all day today.
We have been running, running, running lately.

We thought of fun things to do.
Many art projects.
Science experiments.
A little scuba diving.
It has been a really really good day. I was dreading it. But it has
been great. It just tells me that I'm gonna have some good days and
some bad days, whether I've prayed enough or not. Whether I feel
prepared for it or not. Whether I'm getting a break from the boys or not.
It just is what it is sometimes. And today is a really good day. I'm
thanking Jesus for this good and perfect gift. Pin It

Happiness Is:

Picking a skirt full of strawberries from my own back yard.
Having a sweet little helper named Finny Fan.

[Happiness is not: slugs eating as many strawberries as we did. Any tips?] Pin It

Happy.

Finley "hiding." As soon as AJ walks in the door after work, the boys go running towards him yelling, "WRESTLE!!!!" He is so great to drop his stuff and get to playing with his boys. They have so much fun wrestling with their daddy. They always try to pin him for 10 seconds. They also love to play hide and seek with him. Finley always hides in the exact same spot that AJ just hid in. His latest tricky hiding spot is shown here:
My creative Avery designed this "electric guitar." He worked so hard on it. He cut up a box to make the shape. Then he used a comb, string, and construction paper to make it look how he wanted. When he gets an idea of something he wants to make, he determinedly works on it until he completes it.
Avery's "shot glasses." Those are nerf gun darts. He thought this was hilarious.
My new cabinet knobs and pulls. AJ spent last Saturday installing them on every cabinet in our house. Now that just makes me smile.
A sweet little 3 month old baby boy who loves to suck on his hands.
