hi friends!
don't you just love fridays?
there was a time a few years ago that AJ had to work saturdays.
that was not my favorite.
my boys were little and it made the weekend not feel like a weekend, you know?
i was just doing the same stuff on saturday that i was already doing every other day so it felt like i didn't get that weekend break.
all that to say....i know how it feels to not look forward to the weekend...which is why i appreciate it soooo much more now.
so if you're in that boat, i sympathize.
i've been there.
okay now onto some instagram pics from this week!
for labor day weekend we headed to iowa to visit AJ's sister and her family.
tonya and her husband, dana, should totally write a blog.
they are remodeling an old, built in 1904, house from top to bottom.
it is amazing.
they are such hard workers and it has been amazing to see the progress of the house from when they moved in to now.
their house is full of character like leaded glass windows and built-ins all around.
this cabinet in the dining room is perfection. {side note: the trim here was painted black when they moved in.}
more leaded glass and these amazing vintage eames chairs that tonya got for a song.
totally jealous of those bad boys.
her mantle...and white painted fireplace.
yes.
{sorry these pics are not super great...my phone is dying a slow death. }
so, tonya is an esthetician and she has her own studio in/on the side of her house.
of course it's decorated all cute and vintagy.
like this awesome bench that was in her house growing up and she just freshened it up with some white paint and pillows made from a vintage table cloth.
i obviously love tonya's style.
we were meant to be sisters. :)
of course i had to go ahead and lay myself on her waxing table while i was there.
#sisterperks
tonya also just had a darling baby girl {she has three boys and then a girl...how crazy is that?!}.
i was a baby hog all weekend.
oh my, she was yummy and i love me a newborn.
speaking of this little baby girl...she has the sweetest nursery.
i so wish i had brought my big camera to take better pictures of their awesome house, but in typical sara fashion, i forgot.
so the half-dying cell phone had to suffice.
okay the nursery.....
it is a room full of vintage awesomeness.
she made the big flower over the dresser by cutting {and cutting and cutting} circles out of fabric and then layering them.
it's big and colorful...love it.
many of her great finds are from craig's list.
i love how she combined them with vintage finds, items she already had and handmade items.
they also have a huge yard...with a sandbox.
sawyer loveloveloves a sandbox and we don't have one anymore so he was in heaven.
could have stayed there all day.
we got home and it's been hovering around 100 degrees this week.
we're living it up and soaking up the warm days.
do you see our garden back there?
it's going crazayyy.
the pumpkin vines have busted loose and are spreading into our yard.
come on, pumpkins!!
aunt tonya gave sawyer some artsy stuff for early birthday gifts.
he loves them and so do i since they allowed us some peaceful homeschool on wednesday.
so thankful for these warm days and a big yard to be outside with these kids.
and really so thankful to spend my days with them.
what a gift.
yesterday was sawyer and ruby's first day of mother's day out {which is actually just a few hours in the morning...but you get the idea. :)}
except that it turned out to just be sawyer's first day.
i picked up little miss about 30 minutes after drop off.
she was not having it.
bless her cotton pickin heart.
sister wants her mama.
and really, i'm okay with that. :)
she was super super happy the whole rest of the day and kept burying her face in me and smiling....so you know...she made up for it. :)
whew! that was a lot of pictures.
if you hung in here for all of it...thanks!!
happy weekend, friends!!
