hey y'all....just wanted to check in and say hey.
no time to post today, i'm busy hot gluing my finger prints off.

that website is hysterical.  my friend ashley and i emailed our favorite posts back and forth the other night , i was laughing so hard. . . okay guess you had to be there....

anyhow the writer (she's the girl in those sonic commercials) pokes fun at the sets you see in magazines like pottery barn, ballard designs, etc.

splash park, check.

last week it was about 105 degrees every day.
we decided to knock off one of the last few items on our summer list and go to the splash park . . . to cool off.
as we drove the 30 minutes there i realized it was cloudy, overcast and topping out at 80 degrees.
sigh.
it was fine though, the boys had fun and it was probably less crowded in the end. 

 sawyer wasn't so sure about all of this spraying water business so he stayed mostly right here.

waiting for the bucket of water to fall. . . i love how avery has his arm around finley.
he's such a good big brother.

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

they didn't last too long, what with the shivering and all.
afterward the boys played around on the skate park while sawyer played on the play area that was right there.

it was a fun summer morning, but next time i will probably check the forecast. ;)

in which you discover that i am a spoiled brat.

so something is up with sawyers ankle.
it's been swollen for a couple of months and it turns in when he walks.
the past few weeks he's started limping.

first we went to our pediatrician.
then we went to an orthopedic doctor.
then we went to an pediatric orthopedic doctor.

several sets of x-rays later and mostly it seems like the doctors are scratching their heads.
the current diagnosis, is infantile rheumatoid arthritis.
although that's not even for sure.
we have to wait to see a rheumatologist (not sure if that's the right term) and that could take 6 months.

in the mean time.... he has to wear a brace and .......... wait for it.......
"special shoes."

ugh. they're gonna be hideous, i just know it.
i know this is so shallow of me.
i realize that it could be a lot worse.
i realize many people have it much worse.

but may i just whine for a minute and say, i love all his cute little shoes and now he won't get to wear them?
i better hurry up and have him wear his brown chuck taylors and loafer pedi peds and cutie flip flops before the brace is ready....approx 3 weeks, if you care.

i know i sound like a whiny baby.  and i do want the best for my little saw buddy.
i want him to get all healed up and whole.
and if that means hideous shoes that don't match his outfits, then that's what we'll do.
and i will have a happy heart about it. ;)

today he got fitted for the brace.
he did awesome.
he sat perfectly still the whole time. such a sweetie.

now i need to go figure out what outfit he's gonna wear his chucks with tonight...... Pin It

ohhhhhhhh, it's a monday.

we had a great weekend.
lovely, relaxing, 2 full days with my man.

can you believe it's august already?
school activities are already starting to fill up my calendar this month.
but it's still very much summer in my book so i intend to make the most of it.
it's hotter than snot so i hope to take the boys to the splash park this week.
i'm working on ordering the boys school books right now.
and i lovey love love buying school supplies.
but other than that, i'm in denial that summer will ever end.

i want to hit people who are wishing for fall already.
i love fall as much as the next person, but to me, fall just means that winter is right around the corner.
and i am not a fan.
so i'm gonna soak up this heat index of 104 and drink some more sweet tea thankyouverymuch.

so you know i'm always posting pictures of my kids eating popsicles.
that's how we get through summer in the south around here.

and here is my new fave find:

they're less than 2 buck for a big ol' bag and these are the ones my kids ask for.
they love that they have 2 sticks.  very exciting.
usually we break them in half though to make them last longer.
popsicles are just a daily routine at our house in the summer.

this picture makes me happy. . . in so many ways.
finding my sweet baby boy enjoying a book, the fact that he climbed up on that bench by himself to look at a book, an arm full of silly bands that he swiped from his brothers, the hand me down overalls that he picked out to wear even though i had picked something else out. . .  happy. :)

i really really love summer.
i love the feeling of walking out of a chilly wal-mart and feeling the rush of sunny-hot wind wash over me.
i am happiest with the hot sun on my face.

i love thai food.
the boys and i met aj for lunch today at a local thai place.
i asked the waitress what was that orange drink everyone was drinking.
she said "thai tea" so i said, i'd like to try it.
oh my mercy, it was so stinkin' good.
it was like sweet tea mixed with a little coffee mixed with milk or cream or something lovely.
i don't know why it was so orange but it was so good.
who wants to give me a recipe for it??? :)

my friend, carrie (who gave us that awesome cookie recipe) designed t-shirts to raise money for their adoption.
they have a sweet baby girl in africa and are on the wait list to bring her home.

she is selling the t-shirts on her blog and this is a great way to do our part to love on orphans (james 1:27). in buying one of these shirts, you are helping bring a sweet little girl to her forever home.
