Ryan Seacrest, M.D.

Well, according to Ryan Seacrest, this is the worst flu season in American history.  AJ says that's not a reliable source.   Whatever....the evidence is overwhelming.  There are sooo many people who have, or are just getting over the flu.   We have several close friends who have had it.  A good portion of AJ's office were out this week with the flu.  AJ's parents are in town this weekend.  We took them by AJ's work to show them around.  His boss was up there trying to get stuff done since she'd been gone the whole week.  She is still sick but didn't think anyone would be there.  She said, "stay away from me, I'm still contagious."  No problem.   I hope I didn't offend her by the fact that I backed up and stayed a good 12 feet from her.  I have put so much purrell on my kids' hands this week, they are raw.  We tried to quarantine ourselves in the house as much as possible this week.  We did have to go to the grocery store where I proceeded to wipe the entire cart down.  You betcha, I am not taking any chances.  I'm not a crazy germaphobe....but it just grosses me out to think of all those sicky people wiping their nose and then pushing the shopping cart.  yuck.  I heard one time on the news that the shopping cart handles carry some of the highest amount of germs.  They tested the handles and found all kinds of nastiness that I can't bring myself to type right now.   All that to say, we were in the house a lot this week.  Cooped up in the house = cookie time!
The boys helped me make Peanut Butter Blossoms.  They're super easy and really fun to do with kids.
Here they are with their cookie balls, all ready to go in the oven.
While the cookies were baking, they got to unwrap all the hershey kisses.....and even eat one!
The kisses are ready to go!
They are so proud of their creations!
This is what happens lately when I ask Finley to smile.  He likes to make a bunch of goober faces....pretty cute though.  :)

He's Brilliant

I just have to brag on my little Finn's coloring!  Finley, like his brother, has always loved to do anything arts and crafts.  He LOVES to glue, or "goo" as he calls it.   Of course, they love to paint.  I haven't been too surprised by my children's love for anything art because I love crafts so much, AJ used to really enjoy drawing, and my dad is an amazing, talented artist.  The other night Finley sat on the couch with a box of crayons & a coloring book for about 2 hours.   I was amazed....being only 2 1/2, he doesn't have that long of an attention span.    Anyhow, these are the pictures he colored!  Aren't they good for a 2 1/2 year old?  I thought so.
He's so proud! :)

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord

On Friday I found out that my sweet Grandma went home to be with Jesus.   I am leaving tomorrow for a 10 hour road trip with my mom's husband, David.  My mom is already there (in Chicago).   It's going to be a crazy, quick trip.  Please be praying for my Grandpa & my Mom especially.  Also, please pray for AJ and the boys as they go about life without momma for a few days.
Thanks!

Father of the Year

So I am sicky sicky girl right now.  Yuck.  AJ had a couple of closings he had to finish up work for this morning and then he came home to take care of the boys so I could go to the doctor.   When I got back this is what greeted me:
Notice it took all of the snow left in the yard to create this masterpiece!  AJ is such a good daddy!  He bundled them all up and took them outside to have some fun in the snow.  They really needed some daddy time and probably a break from sicky mommy!
How cute are they??!!
AJ said Finley wanted to make his own snowman, so this is it:
Avery made this snowball all by himself.  It's really heavy.  He rolled it all around the yard collecting every last bit of snow.
It was a big effort to push it up the hill!

Now my 3 boys are at the store getting me some medicine.  I love those crazy cats. :)

"Snow" Day

So yesterday everything in Northwest Arkansas shut down for the "snow storm." Okay, I will say that I believe there was probably a lot more snow further north than we are, but in our little neighborhood, it was much less than forecasted. We actually didn't get any real snow until about 4:00. I didn't take the boys out all day because I kept waiting for it to get really bad and was afraid to be stuck out in it. Plus, I'm sick and I really didn't have the energy to get us out. It was honestly kind of a long day. But, we made the best of it. Grammy got the boys this awesome "art box" for Christmas. It's a huge tub full of all kinds of neat art things. So what better time to pull out finger paint??! The boys had a lot of fun with it. I realize I'm going to have to let go of my standards of cleanliness in order for my kids to enjoy finger painting! Avery kept wanting to wipe his fingers on the bottom of the table! Crazy kid.

Then painting....this went much better. These are those paint brushes where the paint is contained within the brush. Very nice.

My boys L-O-V-E art. Anything and everything arts or crafts . . . they are on board!

Finally, some snow! The boys all bundled up ready to play. . .

This was the best part of the day! They don't seem to mind the cold at all. They even attempted to make snow angels. They're just wasn't enough snow for much else....maybe we'll try again today!
