merry mantel 2012

i lovey love love christmastime.
i fully immerse myself in it...i watch christmas movies any chance i get.
my bing crosby & ella fitzgerald holiday station is playing pretty much non-stop on pandora.
i've got my winter woods candle going strong all day long.
i've been baking up a storm.
love it.

one of my favorite parts of christmas is all the beautiful christmas decorations everywhere you go....in stores, restaurants, friends homes, etc.
it's just so cozy and happy and beautiful.

i have so much fun pulling out our christmas boxes and figuring out new ways to use what we have.
i love traditional red and green at christmas, but for our dark fireplace and mantel, i wanted to do something light and sparkly.
i've been tending towards really whitish mantel decorates lately.

i grabbed the book page wreath from the kitchen and the big frame from our fall mantel and just started adding stuff until it looked all christmasy and festive.

i am so glad i finally got all of our stockings made.
they're white quilted fabric with a muslin lining.
i just laid out one of our old stockings and traced a pattern.

i finished them last january because i knew i would be so happy this year when they were already done.
i am. :)
{the glitter letters are from wal-mart, fyi. }

vintage ornaments are my favorite.
this sweet vintage ornament box was too pretty not to set out.

these hurricanes are filled with vintage snow, silver spray painted pine cones & silvery doo-dads that i had in my christmas box.
i  hung some snowflakes from avery's first birthday on clear thread for some extra sparkle.

a fire in the fireplace would really be the perfect touch, however it was 70 degrees when i took these photos so the fire was not happening. ;)
